What is a plein air board, exactly?

It's a portable painting surface for painting outdoors — it holds your paper, water cups and brushes in one compact setup, so you don't need a table. Ours adds a magnetic system that keeps everything in place while you paint.

Should I choose Small or Large?

Small (4.7 × 5 in) is the flexible everyday choice — easy to pull out and paint anytime, fits sketchbooks under 6 in, and light enough to hold for long sessions without tiring your hand. Large (5.3 × 7 in) suits medium-size work, comfortably handling paper up to 8 in.

I'm a beginner. Is this too advanced for me?

Not at all. The board does the organizing for you — paper, water and brushes all have their place, so you can focus on painting instead of juggling gear.

How long will it take to arrive?

Custom boards are made to order — please allow about 2 weeks for delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How long does shipping take?

Orders are processed within about 2 business days (personalized and made-to-order items may take longer). US Standard shipping takes 3–7 business days, US Priority 1–3 business days, Canada 7–14 days, and international orders 10–21 days. Made-to-order items like the Personalized Plein Air Watercolor Board take about 3 weeks from purchase to delivery.

What paints are included?

Paints are sold separately from the painting board — the board comes with the board in your chosen color, a built-in magnet for palette attachment, slide-track water bucket, sketchbook clip, absorbent sponge, and magnetic sticker patch. To paint right away, pair it with one of our travel palettes, available empty or pre-filled with hand-filled Holbein watercolors.

This is absolutely what I was looking for! The color is really pretty in person. The seller communicated when it would ship and it arrived well packaged, ahead of time.

Received this very quickly. it's good quality and is as described. I'm hoping it holds up better than the go sketch board that i already have.

I also got this for travel and outdoor sketching. I tried it out today and found it very convenient especially with the magnetic portion. The magnets held my palette very securely. I really only needed the one water container today but I am glad I have two that I can use if the need arises. I love the small sponge location as well. Thanks again. The custom name is a lovely touch especially if used as a gift.( for yourself or others)

This took a little time to make for me, but it is fantastic. I hope to use it very soon. Nana has a great shop and takes great care when packing your items and getting them to you. Great little shop for sketchers and watercolor supplies.
